Maryland can be mildly hot in the summer, and only moderately cold in the winters. Average annual temperatures are around 55 degrees Fahrenheit. The highest temperatures occur in July, and the lowest in January.
Maryland’s largest city is Baltimore, birthplace of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and now home to Maryland’s growing business and technological center. Maryland’s location along the eastern seaboard also affords easy access to other major metropolitan areas in the northeast such as Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, and New York.
